I first got into shooters when I had my copy of Jet Force Gemini on the Nintendo 64 way back in the early 2000's, after that I didn't really did not have interest in shooters whether it was 1st person or 3rd person shooters.Years later I got into shooters yet again towards to the zombie mode of call of duty black ops and world at war. Then in 2011 I started playing Team Fortress 2 and made another account in 2013.My only regret is not playing games such as Doom,Quake,Unreal Tournament,GoldenEye 007 or Duke Nukem 3D sooner.

So what got you guys into 1st person/ 3rd person shooters? Whether it was someone who suggested a game to you or it was a game from a franchise/series I'm here to read your stories.

I went to a Java class a couple years ago and we had breaks where we could play games, so people set up local TF2 games and I tried it out.

All hail Doom! Doom is the reason. Remember playing that shit with my brother until 6 in the damn morning on the weekends and didn't regret a second of it. Those were the good ol' days. That and of course 007 on the N64 (and I've still got it!)

My first ever was arcade style shooters on the NES system. I bought the N64 about 2 years later or so and played a ton of doom as well as resident evil and resident evil 2. I then decided to purchase the play station and played a ton of non fps games such as spyro and final fantasy, but after a while I decided to start playing fps again which there wasn't many good ones on ps1 so I got into the cabelas hunting games. After that I went to xbox, which obviously got into Halo when it first released. After playing the campaign for a while I figured screw it and played online, I got invited to a competition with a team and won 2nd place. That opened my eyes up to wanting to get into the competitive scene and well we had a local lan game shop near by so I went there and tryed comp games. I then applied for a job there and worked there for 3 years. Within those 3 years I played to many damn comp games to even mention the whole list, but from UT, Cod 1 & 2, medal of honor, quake, Battlefield 1 & 2, among so many more.

Will do! Thanks for the suggestion. I know there's a few mods out there but I never looked into them. I'll be sure to check this one out.

My first shooter experience was when I visited a friends we would play star wars battlefront 2 on his xbox 360. Then much later people posting on forums I was active on were talking about tf2, so I got steam and tf2.
