The popular skins among the weapons.

Main rifles: Ak-47, M4A4, M4A1-S, AWP

SMGS: P90

Pistols: Pretty much all of them, mainly Deagle, glock and Usp-s

And obviously knives.

Skin Wear values:
With CS:GO items come wears as well, the lower the wear generally the lower the price and quality look of the weapon. Wears go as followed:

Battle-Scarred(BS)>Well-Worn(WW)>Field-Tested(FT)>Minimal Wear(MW)>Factory New(FN)

Battle scarred being the worse look of all the wears and Factory New looks like it came straight out the factory (obviously).

Stat Track:
With weapons in CS:GO, valve has provided an option called Stat-Track, which keeps tracks of kills and provides a counter on the gun that displays the number in a Digital counter (on knives it is "carved" on to it). Stat-Track will add a significant amount onto the skin and not all skins are stat tracked. If you come from TF2, this is similar to strange weapons, however instead of having an evolving name, it keeps track of the kills on weapon. These kills also reset once traded.

What is considered "popular" in the list of skins given is solely based on the price of the weapon, the most demanded. Prices also fluctuate quite rapidly as people keep trying to undercut others on the market.

All the skins listed are again just the more price like skins, since these are in more of a demand and are more popular among MOST of the community.

Unfortunately the rifles are mainly the higher priced ones, plus add stat track on top of that it will significantly increase in price.

There is a lot more into trading as you have to watch prices, play the market and know how far into your wear of skin is (a skin may say field tested however it will be borderline on Minimal Wear and Field Tested). This isn't a how to trade, just a list of popular skins plus small notes.

 

Tec 9's are actually becoming very popular in use lately. No great skins yet sadly.
