Dayz or Arma II Dayz mod??

I really want to buy DayZ but i don't know which is the best version on the steam market. Can anyone help me out??

 

Honestly right now the mod is still the best to play. Everyone that has bought standalone has went back to the mod as well. They've been taking there good ol' time updating standalone and adding more features such as vehicles. If you buy anything i suggest going with the mod so just buy arma 2

 

I have the standalone and love it having never played the mod. They recently updated and continually add to it as well, in the long run the standalone is the one that will be supported with the largest community

 

I own both standalone and mod, I enjoy the mod more than standalone at the moment because of all the extra content, and the different communities such as the DayzRp community. But it really depends on your patients, because if you want right away fun go with the Dayz mod, but in the long run standalone will be the best option. Another thing is that in the next update they are fixing zombies running through walls.
