I leave for a bit then come back, now I'm inactive for a bit. My GFX Card died last night, I'm using an ATi x800. Fun stuff. I could play but I'm not going to push it. I have an nVidia mobo, so I'm not sure how it'll act. Should be back in a week, if I can find a good card.

Any recommendations? (mostly aimed towards silver, she's a builder.)

What are the specs of your computer? What is your price range?

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1
    CPU: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz
    RAM: Used: 2126/8190.5MB
    HDD: Free: [All:\ 398.26GB/465.66GB]
    GFX: ATI Technologies Inc. 256MB (1920x1080 32bit 60Hz)
SOUND: High Definition Audio Device, Microsoft
NET: NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (100MB/s)
    UP: 3hrs 1min 4secs

...mIRC has its uses. Anyway, pretty much I just want something better than my 9600 GT but wont go over $200. My mobo is a nVidia 680i LT, and I'm pretty sure it's on its way out next. But that's for another day.

Eventually you might want to upgrade parts of your computer or build a new one. If you buy a new graphics card you can also use it towards a new build.

I do not have a regular enough cash flow to upgrade my computer, and plus if I do build one, I still need this one for I favor various Linux and *BSD operating systems. (My other machine runs it, but it's hella old.)

Thank you for taking your time to research these, I really appreciate it. I would do it, but I'm not good at finding stuff I need over stuff I want.

I was informed by some of my users on IRC not to max out this board because of it's age, hence why I said it's probably on its way out next.

    I'm ranting, thanks.

Well you can always do what I did and upgrade bits and pieces. Also you might want to consider getting a new motherboard and cpu. The second generation intel processors have come down in price since they released the third generation.

I can give you some suggestions for the motherboard and the cpu as well if you like. Or when you want to build one I can do a configuration for you. The configuration can be done for any price range.

I have most of the machine I want picked out, it'll be a monster when I'm done. The kind of monster you need a dedicated electrical socket to run. :D

Damn, can't edit posts. Anyway, I'll consider asking you if I don't decide to go with that machine, simply because my power bill is already $130 a month. (over the normal $75)

Also if you get a better power supply it can bring down your power bill.
