    Ok, so, I haven't been playing the past couple of days because my desktop computer won't start up. Having given up on it, I need someone who can tell me what I need to do in order for CS to play on my laptop. Everything is installed correctly, obviously since it worked just fine on the desktop. When I start up steam, the following happens, it loads, goes to "checking for steam updates" and then it says "error: could not connect to steam network." What do I do to change that? I'm connected via wifi, is that why? I have a dell inspiron n7110. Any and all help would be awesome.

    Can you connect to your internet just fine with the laptop? If so I would check your routers firewall and/or disable your firewall on your laptop to test.

    Thanks for your quick reply. Seems I have a genius nephew who told me to just download the latest steam straight from their website.. And so I did, and so I can now play on my laptop. See you guys soon :)
