I think it might be useful to add another level to the @ notification system (ex: @Gotcha @Woody). If we had people register for which servers they want to receive notifications for people can just type @zombiemod or @gungame (@gg) or @turbine to get the attention of players who might be particularly interested in the subject being discussed.

    This could also benefit applications

"What server do you play on: @zombiemod"

Then all admins and active players who register for the alert will be notified and see who is applying.

This would increase forum participation by notifying people on subjects and concerns specific to their servers of interest instead of requiring people to filter through all the posts (even though it isnt a big effort people are still lazy).

Let me know what you think

I don't know if this is needed, because as an admin, you should try and keep up on everything as you never know when you might start to play in another area, or get the opportunity to move up to a higher level due to someone leaving or an opportunity opening up.

Drac is a great example, he is primarily a TF2 player but he recently started to play ZM again, and because he has kept up on all the ins and outs, he won't have an issue being a good admin in there.

I actually do think this would be a good idea though. Some of our admins which I won't point out don't seem to be particularly interested in being social. If we did do this I think it would draw more attention to those similar areas that they're around on a daily basis which they might actually speak up then.

Even though our admins should be keeping up to date on all ongoing news on the forums some again don't seem to really care for forums or don't care for the social activity.

While I see what Drac is saying, namely based upon what Link told us, I feel that admin is a privilege not a right, so if you get admin, there are expectations, and if they can't then they shouldn't be admin. I know that is a harsh reality, and is my two cents, likely not everyone's.

My only thinking Homer is what people should do and what people actually do arent the same. This isnt just for admins, but members as well who wish to participate. It makes it much easier for all parties involved.

If im not able to get on to the forums for several days there are a couple hundred new posts and I can hardly take a close look at all of them. But If i had 20 notifications about posts relevant to my servers, I am much more inclined to look at each one of those carefully.

It would create a forum much more conducive to particpation for members and admins

^ what riptide said, I don't think he meant specifically for admins, but for everyone on the forums to get to know other people who like the same things they do

this could also be useful for new members to get to know the members on their server by typing GunGame or etc into the search bar, maybe it could display members who are also tagged as playing @gungame or w/e
