random latency convo

    Meh, sitting here bored as can be. My latency has been spiking to like 200+ and I contacted my ISP and when they came over and tested my network they said everything seems fine. They then decided to test there lines and found breaks all through the line the whole length of my road, there statement was that the lines were from back in the 90's and they won't upgrade them because there isn't enough people here that have network to be at there worth.

    I told the guy that I am a gamer and tried explaining that you can't really game with 200+ ping. Now this is when it gets interesting, he tried saying that i shouldn't notice a difference unless I reach 300 plus ping???

    Has anyone else ever heard of that?

    What ISP if I may ask? I am having this exact same issue since Monday. Also, that tech guy was trying to get rid of you or he's an idiot

    I have CenturyLink, literally the only ISP where I live. This isn't the first tech that has told me this either. Which is why I figured to ask if anyone else has heard it or not. Because literally I feel anything above 110 latency.

    Okay we don't have the same just a coincidence haha. I agree with you though at 100 ping I start visibly noticing the connection issues and at 200 it is too unbearable to even play

I have Frontier, they are the most ass people ever. Their internet sucks, sooo much. Good luck buddy

    If you run speedtest.net it gives you a review for whatever isp your through. Centurylink has a 1 1/2 star. I think that explains enough ahahha

    I honestly think the only top 5 star I've seen so far was for verizon fios.

    I never seen any test results for it so i have no idea personally lol... I just know Verizon does cause a friend has it and sent me a screenshot of his speed with a 5 star

    Ah right. When I was living on campus my university had amazing internet. 100+ Mbps download speed

    Yeah, that's what my buddy has through verizon fios. 150/150.. the nice thing with Verizon is they match your download with your upload which is crazy.

    I had Verizon till frontier bought all of the territories in Southern California. Internet is still great with 100/100, however their customer service is horrible.

    Although they dont outsource for teleprompters, they end up with cocky fucking Americans who are pricks and think they are relevant. I miss the good old Indians :(

    Customer service is definitely something that needs changed at all companies now adays.

    About 2 weeks ago I went to walmart and they had comcast setup near the electronics and were trying to get people to switch to them. I told them we tried getting internet through them in our area but there last switch was 50 feet from our driveway so they wanted us to pay to put a new pole and switch in which would cost around 1k. The one guy i guess is a big wig for comcast and said he didn't believe we should have to pay that he would give us a call and let us know after he talks with his other employees. Well as said it's been two weeks and no call lol...
