There needs to be some rules on spray decency

Tonight on Lazytown there were two of an occasionally reoccurring issue, porn sprays. I ran into one in trainsawlaser. They disgust many, hurt the play experience, and have no reason to be on VG's great servers. Even when admins are on and many complain they can't do anything and people are left to try to spray over them without looking.

I agree with END. What he is referring to, tonight [4/21/2015] was actually quite vulgar and inappropriate(mostly animated pornography). Some of the sprays arguably showed scenes of animated rape. The sprays caused mic spam and arguments, which of course was obnoxious, and really caused great ripples in the flow of fun game-play. And it clearly bothered the mostly young server community. NEVER, EVER, have I actually seen so many sprays of pornography my whole time on LazyTown LazyDay, and continuing on the thought, I have never seen the server so disgruntled such as tonight.
Please consider possibilities to address the situation.

Again, we DO NOT do anything for sprays. I understand your concern and if someone else has an issue with it they can disable sprays in console for the time being. If people make a big deal about it of course it will just get worse. We also will be talking about this during the server admin meeting so all opinions are welcome there.

 

Of course, and can members add to a list of what should talk about?

 

We will eventually be having a community members meeting I believe. When that happens we will ask the same as we asked from our admins to post up topics to be discussed.

I know this will be discussed at a member's meeting but I just wanted to put in my thoughts for now.

An idea I think could work is if a majority of the server finds a spray too inappropriate (if it's just few complaints the admins don't have to do anything about the sprays) an admin can issue a warning or two and if they don't do anything about it they get a very short ban from the server. Unlike the thread you linked to, I am in no way wanting sprays banned, but if someone's spray is ruining the fun for a majority of the people on the server I believe it's in VG's best interest to have a way to respond to it.

Also, why are people punished for being offensive in chat but not if they replace words with pictures? If someone started filling chat with inappropriate things and/or descriptions about women or sex they would get gagged but if they use pictures nothing happens.

 

Has a spray ever affected game play that much to where its become a problem? I dont play TF2 much but i know on CSS people often use porn sprays of naked women, people having sex or even gay sprays but they hardly affect gameplay other than a few players staring at them for a while. If you find sprays so distracting that their existence would interfere with gameplay you are able to make it so that sprays are not visible to you.

It might be helpful so we have more things to refer to if you get more of the people that were offended to come on and comment as well. The more people you get to support it the more the admins will have to talk about during our meeting.

 

That's why I said admins should only do something if a majority of the server has an issue with the spray. I'm guessing TF2 has a generally younger community than CSS and so they may find such sprays more of an issue. The only incident I was there for where it was a significant issue that affected the game was that one night aa4life mentioned. This isn't a huge or regular issue but I think there should be a way for admins to do something in those rare cases.

I myself wouldn't disable sprays for my tf2 because I find most harmless and/or fun.

 

Again, we do not do anything nor will we do anything for sprays at this time. Some people might find sprays to be inappropriate and that is there opinion and others may not. So anyone that does find it to be a problem can easily turn off sprays through console on there own end for the time being and re-enable it later.

The problem with the sprays is, LazyTown actually has a younger community, and several times the game has halted and mic argument spam follows shortly after.

 

That's why I think action should only be taken when it's an issue with most of those on, not just one or two people who don't represent the server as a whole.
