I have dual LCD 27" monitors. From my understanding you really want a lower refresh rate. Both of my monitors are 2ms.

That would work. You don't have to shell out for a "gaming monitor" though. Any name brand monitor with decent specs will work.

I use two 22 inch LED monitors for my main desktop. I heard LED IPS displays are good. I have not used one personally yet.

CRT technology is much superior to that of LCD for display capability. Contrast and color reproduction capabilities are better, and also CRTs do not suffer the same from scaled images that do not match the native resolution of a LCD. The big downside to CRTs is the size, weight, and now also cost as LCD has become cheaper.

PS: So called "LED" monitors of today are LCD monitors, they are just backlit by LED lighting rather than CF. True LED (OLED actually) displays are VERY expensive, rare, and not yet sized very large (last time I looked into it).

Not entirely sure if you're serious here... but if you are serious at all about CRTs, just note that the really superior ones now cost some pretty heavy money due to their nearly exclusive use by niche professionals. For example, from what I have read, pretty much all (if not all) Hollywood movie & TV production uses top of the line highly calibrated cathode ray tubes to view content in the production process, as they offer the very best picture to work with.

My last CRT monitor was a 20" with a Sonly Trinitron tube in it that was both vertically and horizontally flat. Flat referring to the actual face of the screen and not to the relative shallow dimension of the depth to the width or height. CRTs are normally somewhat curved in both the X and Y dimensions. Higher end models might have the Y flat but still a curved X. The best ones are flat both ways. It had a pretty high resolution and looked totally awesome! You could run lower resolutions on it and suffer NO lack of sharpness due to scaling away from a "native resolution" if you wanted to or needed to for any reason.

And then I bought a LCD monitor and gave my CRT away. It was just a MONSTER on the desk. It must have weighed close to 75 pounds and just dominated the space. It had to go. It did look nicer than my current Asus LED (backlit) LCD monitor, but for me, the increase in picture quality was not big enough to deal with the space hogging.

I wish you all the best in your quest for the slickest VDU you can get!
