Internet directly from my modem (Arris Surfboard SB6141) is reading at 59-60mbps (we only pay for 50 :D) but I'm a tech noob so idk wtf is going on. Lots of lag, slow downloads on devices connected to Wifi. Even YouTube videos take forever to load on my phone and especially on my Xbox.
My router is a Linksys EA6500, about 2 years old. Has been reset, no updates available. Maybe shitty cables are to blame? Maybe the router is dying? Idek
If I should get a new router, what would you guys suggest?

Oh! And the surfboard modem is fairly new. Maybe a few months or so old.

I'm thinking of grabbing the TP Link one (I think the $60 one but it's like $45 on Amazon) since I don't need anything hella fancy and I only have 50-60mbps internet speed :D

Bad cables can definitely do that to you. I would recommend changing your RJ45 cables out first to see if that fixes the issue. If not then proceed with replacing the router.

I had a similar issue awhile back and it was an old RJ45 cable causing the issue.

    Much appreciated @whgssh
Ohhhh okay I kinda figured. It's weird though cus I've had the cables forever (which could be the reason lol) but every time I reset the router, it works flawlessly for about, 10 minutes, then it starts to crap out again and lag like crazy. @Woody

But I'll definitely try swapping out the cables for higher quality ones and see if it'll fix the problem! If not, well, at least I'll have higher quality cables for the new router xD
