Overwatch

So from what I've heard Overwatch will have custom servers. If you happen to live under a rock, Overwatch is a fps similar to tf2 but made by Blizzard (ftw) I am so hyped for it and I was wondering if it'd be possible to get a VG server when it comes out.

 

I would definitely support a VG server for this. Just keep us updated on a release date for it though, we need to have the server up and ready ASAP when the game comes out in order to better populate.

 

Far as I was unaware hearing from one of the project managers they have said it will not release with custom content. The custom servers and other content will not be released till a later date. They will release the game with there own dedicated servers to start it off.

 

Didn't know they'd be postponing it.. either way a VG server would be great. I mean.. its blizzard

How are you going to juggle between tf2 and overwatch if at all?

 

I think it's all going to come down to if Overwatch is a success or not. If it fails, then a server probably won't be added. If it does work out well, then a server will probably be thought over. Although, if is a decent game with a cult following, that's where that what ifs come in. Unless Blizzard tries to wring money out of Overwatch users, I think that it will be a good game and there will be a chance that a VG server might be added.

I'm not saying that I don't believe that Overwatch won't be a success and that there won't be a server but it all depends on whether or not Overwatch does well which is all up to Blizzard. Overwatch does look like an exciting game, it's the execution of the pay model that will decide if it does well along with the playability.

 

Either way there is so much hype for the game and the beta looks great.. it will be played. Which is why I think we should get a server asap, since there will be so many people playing it based on the hype it doesn't matter if the game is shit.

 

Sounds good, but didn't they say they weren't going to allow non-blizzard hosted servers?

 

They said during a alpha stream on twitch they might allow non-dedicated servers in the future. During release they will only have dedicated servers for the time being.
