Well let me start with this thing called Staff Duty, man does it suck. Ok since I am biased I will try to hold back my agrivation with it. You start duty around 9 in the morning, and If your like me your tweaking from the work out supplements and coffee....lol.... While on this duty the phone never stops ringing, lieutenants never stop bring you there work and expect you to do it...."slap a bitch" they are lucky I don't have a P90 in real life. Then around 5 everyone goes home and It's Big Bang Theory time. I send my runner for slurpees  and as I look up at the clock I just remember hey we only have 16 hours to go. At that point my soul is once again crushed....but hey look on the bright side hey this time tommorow I will be on steam serving up death and distraction on Zombie MOD with my new VG family.....

:'( Sounds to me like working eight hour day shifts. Now if you would have said you had to work most of the evenings on the LTs' work also, instead of getting to play Steam, I could have some sympathy.
Most jobs in the real world require hard work the whole shift, and many also require a fair amount extra beyond the shift times (believe me, I know).
Having been in the military myself, I know a bit about how things tend to work. The thing that killed me about military life was being made to spend so much time just waiting and being ready to do something. I think the old saying "hurry up and wait" sums up military life quite well.

Private security too. A lot of preparation for just a walk in, dine (or what-have-you) and leave. Three days worth of planning for 2 hours worth of actual work. My dad is ex-Air Force so this kind of rings true for me, but I suppose you have to be there and actually doing it to sympathize. Long days and nights without seeing that man...

This is very true. Unfortunately when you see me on line it's cause I am off work. My schedule is a full 24 hour rotation. Man it sucks. Can't make plans.
