    I say a plaza or mall, maybe with a door to a small outside area?
    I'm not sure how the server events would work.
    I don't think it's needed to have a wall with rules, they agree to the rules when they hit "next" in the motd page

    I think the main part of the map should be the idle portion of the map. Then if they want they can run out of the idle area to the fun/trade section.

    Hard to tell from the screenshot. It'll be easier to check out once a working version is up and we can test it. I'd just like to make sure that the Idle is the main part of the map, then if they'd like to walk and leave that area to the fun/trade section they can.

    I don't think a sound is necessary. Maybe right it on the wall in a few places.

    I think just a big open area. I'm not really sure as I don't visit trade maps often. Maybe take a look at what other popular trade servers have and do something similar.
